H.E. the Governor of Homa Bay County, Mr. Cyprian Awiti hosted the PSRI Team led by the Director Professor Murungaru Kimani on Thursday March 12, 2015. The team was in the County to brief the Governor on the PSRI Rusinga Island DSS research and its potential role in the County’s development. The team was accompanied by the Director-General of National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) Dr. Josephine Kibaru. In his remarks Professor Murungaru noted that PSRI was established in the 1970s with three mandates: training and research on population and technical backstopping on the same. H.E. on his part observed the importance of the research being undertaken and expressed his desire to see it being integrated in the County’s planning process. H.E. also welcomed the planned dissemination of the research results later this year. Dr. Kibaru appealed to the County Government to support Reproductive Health services and FP in the County.
